From the Archbishop, Lenten Study: Journey to HopeI write to commend the Lenten study 'Journey to Hope', to all members of the Diocesan family. This study has been written by a team that the Archbishop appointed in late 2016. It is intended to help us learn from our past and to grow in faith, hope, and love. It draws on the messages and stories from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and on scripture readings for the season of Lent.
The study can be found here on the Diocesan Website >
It contains disturbing stories. Can I recommend that you join a Lenten Study group or that you speak to me (Marian) another trusted person if you find it confronting or if it raises issues for you?
Kids Church will next be gathering on Sunday 18th at 9.15am. We will be learning about Ash Wednesday & Lent with some art activities.
World Day of Prayer - A service will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians at 10.00 am on Friday 2nd March 2018, 9 Bowman Street, Hendra with morning tea afterwards.
Memorial Service - The Eternal SilenceIn response to a request for a Memorial Service from a survivor of sexual abuse by a Church Worker, the Anglican Church Southern Queensland engaged in a process of consultation with survivor support groups and agencies. These encouraged us to pursue the idea, with number of agency and group representatives indicating that it could be a very significant offering to survivors of abuse, and to the families and friends of those who died by suicide.
The Memorial Service will be held on THURSDAY 8 MARCH 7 PM, ST JOHN'S CATHEDRAL
Next Saturday Breakfast: 3rd March 2018 at the Journey Cafe (see bulletin for details or call our office). See more here >
Healing Service: On the third Wednesday of every month there is a time of healing prayer at the 10am Eucharist. The next healing service will be on March 21st.
Annual General Meeting: The Annual General Meeting will be held in the Columbarium on February 25th after the 9:30am service. Nominations and notices of motion must be given to the office by February 15th so that they can be included in the Pew Sheet.
Annual Reports should all now be submitted. If you still have not completed your annual report, please send to Marian asap.
Memorial Service - First Saturday of the month, in the Columbarium 7:30am.
Meditation resumes on February 7th 2018, and the Bible Studies also resume now that Marian had returned from holidays.
Lent - What will you do this Lent to help you focus your minds and your lives on Christ? Some of you may find it helpful to walk the Stations of the Cross that Rosemary will set up in the Columbarium.
