St Augustine’s parishioners are always generous with donations of non-perishable food items to the Parish Pantry. This activity is actually more important to the community than first thought. At the back of the church is a list that may assist you with any future decision making about what to donate.

Next time you are shopping, perhaps throw in a can or packet of food, and leave it with us at the back of the church. If you are not sure where to leave items, or what to donate, just ask one of the morning tea experts, [revd], or pop into our Office.

We have approaching 600 plants in our gardens, comprised of perennials, shrubs, and trees – including a new Poinciana, hedges, and lawns. We are looking to plant hundreds of spring annuals each year.

If you would like to contribute, please pop in a gold coin donation into the tin at the back of the church, or send a donation to the office. This would be much appreciated. Our lawns and gardens are a unique feature of the church and its use in serving the parish.

The Jumble Sale is an important part of our fund raising and charity work.

Volunteers are needed to help sort and sell Jumble items – Sunday & Monday prior to the Jumble Sale Day. If you would like to volunteer, please call our Office.

Donations of goods are gratefully received – Pre-loved vintage gear – Designer boutique – Ladies, children’s and men’s clothes – Books – Bric-a-brac. Please no furniture, electrical goods or torn clothing.

We have Morning Tea on site.

Planned Giving & Volunteer Work

Giving is an important part of Christian life. As we journey in our faith, we come to recognise that our lives and what we have are as a result of God’s blessings to us. Sharing this blessing comes naturally.

Giving a proportion of our finances, or our personal time to others, is a clear expression of this, understanding that in the end all belongs to Him.

For financial budgeting purposes we encourage people to use the facility offered by ANFIN for regular direct debits, or for regular church service members to make use of the collection envelopes.

However you decide to contribute financially, it is up to you, and of course between you and God. We make no expectations of you, and for those with no regular jobs we understand your capacity to give is often in other ways, or according to your means from week to week. Someone who gives $5 may be giving as much in love and care for God’s work as someone who gives $50. No record is kept of who gives what or how often. All money received goes to the ministry of St Augustine’s Anglican Church Hamilton and its nominated outreach and services.

We may not say often enough our appreciation for your assistance, particularly for the hard work in events such as the Jumble Sales that are crucial to the church funds. We are a big historic building with large lawns and various assets such as the pipe organ. We have a considerable project before us with the restoration of the stained glass windows – and all of this take’s physical work from volunteers, and our finances.

Not only do these contributions go toward the ongoing cost of ministry in this parish, the church and its functioning, but we also commit to giving each year to a number of organisations. Please help us to give generously. Organisations include the Anglican Board of Missions, Anglicare, Endeavour Foundation, St Francis College, 139 Club for the homeless, Youth Housing Project, Bush Ministry, Women’s Hostel, The Mission to Seafarers, St Alban’s Wilston, St Mary’s Home in Toowong, Holy Trinity Church in Fortitude Valley, St Stephens Coorparoo, Mater Mothers’ Hospital, and more.

We also, on behalf of the church thank you for your materials given, such as food and clothing – consider our Pantry Kitchen :-)

2020 was the Centenary of the first services at St Augustine’s Anglican Church. (The church foundation stone was laid in 1919. The first service was in 1920.)

In 2010 we launched our fundraising campaign in the hope that by our 100th year we will have raised enough money to repair and restore the church to its former glory and protect it for generations to come.

A major component of this campaign is to secure sponsorship toward the restoration and repair of each of our beautiful stained glass windows. It is our intention to undertake restoration works as fundraising allows over the next several years with the first stage of work already underway.

In October 2011, the Centenary Committee held its first Formal Dinner at The Pavilion, Albion. The evening was a great success both socially and financially with over $40,000 raised through ticket sales, raffles and auctions held on the night. The live auction proved hugely popular with spirited bidding and much mirth, resulting in the sponsorship of seven windows.

On 25th August 2012 the ‘Black Tie & Bling’ Fundraising Dinner was once again held at The Pavilion (Allan Border Field), a wonderful venue. The dinner was well supported and raised $38,000 through ticket sales, raffles and the ever popular auctions (silent and live) which led to several more window sponsorships.

If you would like to support the restoration of St Augustine’s beautiful stained glass windows and discuss sponsoring a window of your choice, please contact our Office, or if you would like to make a donation you can post your donation to PO Box 202, Hamilton Qld 4007 or call the Office.

Yours sincerely
