Parish Description

Saturday Breakfast and More

Once a month a group of Parishioners meet for breakfast at a local café. Over coffee or a meal, we discuss a wide variety of topics that have included such themes as “joy”, “compassion”, “compromise” and so on. The aim of the group is to provide an environment in which people may speak freely about difficult or interesting topics, whether or not they belong to a church, or any church. If you are interested, please call our office. Breakfast is after the Columbarium service on the 1st Saturday of the month at 8:30 am.

Indoor Bowls

Why take the heat from outdoor bowls? Indoor bowls is easier, fun, and friendly, even if a little competitive. Join us for a session in the Community Hall. All ages of any experience, or none, are very welcome. There are four teams, taking a morning tea break between two sessions. Friday mornings, except the Friday before Jumble Sale.

Tuesday Friends

The group won’t let us name it the Merry Widows! This is an understanding group of widowed ladies who meet on the last Tuesday of the month at 10am, sharing fellowship over morning tea. The Tuesday Friends meet in a nominated restaurant, or from time to time in outings or dinners. The gallery below is from the Vagelis Restaurant on Racecourse Road in May 2017. Should you be widowed and would appreciate being in the company of others who have experienced, and continue to experience the changes from the loss of a husband, please join us.

Craft Group

I’m not sure I’m even game to guess what the ladies talk about when they get together for their crafts! One thing is for sure, these crafties are very happy to work the wool, various other crafts and donate to charity. Join in on the 1st or 3rd Wednesday of the month between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm in the office space of the hall building. Please contact our office to express your interest. Any type of craft work is encouraged. The most important part of this group is fun, fellowship and hopefully an increase in ability for those who wish to learn. The group contributes to others such has Mission to Seafarers who are always looking for beanies for the crews who come into port, or, knitted and crocheted blankets to assist people in need, particularly the homeless. Bring your knitting, tapestry, crochet or anything else you are working on.

From – “Mahjong is a card game that originated in China. Four players play the game using numbered tiles or cards. In all, there are 144 tiles, of which 36 tiles are in the Bamboo suit, 36 in the Circle suit, 36 in the Character suit, 16 Wind tiles, 12 Dragon tiles, and 8 bonus tiles (4 Flowers and 4 Seasons). Depending upon the game, the number of tiles may vary. Four players collect tiles with similar pictures and numbers. At the end of the game, the player who has collected the maximum number of sets is the winner.”

Jo Mould is running a group of wannebe players, meeting at the church office on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Please contact our office for expression of interest. No experience necessary – teachers on hand and all welcome. The main objective is to have fun!
