Clergy Summer School
Join clergy from around the Diocese for a time of fellowship and learning at Clergy Summer School, to be held at The Southport School from 13-15 January. Themed ‘Across the Divides: there’s only us’, Summer School 2020 will feature keynote speakers Bishop Chris McLeod and The Rev’d William Loader.
Workshops: Collaborative Maturity and Working in Complexity
Learn how to tackle complex problems through a collaborative approach in the ‘Collaborative Maturity’ workshop on Wednesday 20 November, or explore processes, tools and methods for working through complexity in an introductory workshop on Thursday 21 November.
Masterclass: Collaborative leadership in real life
Develop your skills and practices as a collaborative and adaptive leader in this half-day masterclass on Friday 22 November. The session will provide an opportunity to go deeper on this topic and work through real life-issues and challenges you (or your teams) are facing in the workplace or community.
Spiritual direction program
Applications are now open for the 2020 spiritual direction courses offered at St Francis College. Course options include a ‘Certificate in Spiritual Direction’ (4 years, part-time) or ‘The Art of Contemplative Listening’ (1 year, part-time). Apply now and learn how to deepen your relationship with God and companion others to a personal conversation with God.

Bishop Jeremy: donations requested
In December, Bishop Jeremy and his teenage children, Kate, Hannah and Thomas will be going to Melanesia. They are taking donated items with them for the small village school at Taroaniara. The school particularly needs soccer balls, net balls and frisbees in good condition, and brand-new toys for preschool-aged children. Primary Ichthus — January 2020
Primary Ichthus is the Diocesan youth camp for those starting in Grades 4-7 in 2020. Held over four days, the camp provides opportunities for kids to explore their faith, make friends and have heaps of fun.

Resources on human sexuality and marriage
Diocesan Council has appointed a reference group to curate a sample of resources on the topic of human sexuality and marriage for the Anglican Church Southern Queensland website.
The reference group is seeking suggestions of resources, including books, articles, journal contributions, videos and websites, etc from people in our Diocesan community. Alpha resources and training
Alpha is a great tool for church leaders to facilitate conversations around the Christian faith with parishioners and the broader community. Resources and tips to assist leaders with running Alpha are now available, including ‘Alpha essentials’ (for those new to running Alpha) and ‘Alpha additions’ (for those looking to deepen their existing Alpha offering). Free training for church leaders is also available through the Alpha Australia Queensland Team.
GFS grants: applications open
GFS (an Anglican Ministry) is offering financial grants to Anglican parishes to support children and youth ministry initiatives. Grants up to $500 are available to parishes providing an "ongoing" Christian ministry (apply by Saturday 30 November 2019). In addition, grants up to $1500 are available to support one-off/ special events (apply any time of the year).
Heritage grants now open
Applications are now open for the Queensland Government’s Heritage Conservation grant program, which provides funding to projects that facilitate the conservation of access to, and community engagement with, places entered in the Queensland Heritage Register. Applications are accepted from owners of places entered in the Queensland Heritage Register or not-for-profit organisations that have the responsibility to manage such places. Parishes applying for grants are reminded of the need to email a copy of their draft application to the General Manager’s Office two weeks prior to the application closing date: email@example.com
